Sunscreen Removes Permanent Ink From Skin

By Michelle Waters | October 23, 2006

Well, I finally found the green permanent marker I lost.

OK, so one of the perils of working at home and caring for kids, is that they find your lost stuff for you. Assuming they didn’t lose it for you in the first place. At any rate, my three-year-old, Aimee found the marker. I found it in her hand, right after she’d colored her leg, hands, chest and face.

Yikes!

So I googled “remove permanent marker from skin” and found a site that suggested I use the spray-on, mist style suncreen to remove the ink.

It just so happened that I had several spray bottles of suncreen in the hall closet, and nothing to lose. So I gave it a try.

I sprayed the sunscreen on, let it soak for a couple of seconds — and then wiped it off with a paper towel. After the first application, I could see that the marker had transferred to the paper towel, but we still had marks on Aimee.

After about three applications though — the marker was gone!

I was amazed. And grateful. And I’m writing this here to share with you — and so that I can remember. LOL
